Eight Roswell girls traveled to Albany, GA to compete in the 6A State Track meet and they finished higher than any Roswell girls team in 16 years. The girls completed the 2013 season with a 7th place finish tallying 23 points.
Friday, all field event finals were contested, while most running preliminaries were completed.
Tracy Dorcemont competed in 2 events, placing 11th in the discuss and finishing in 3rd place with a new school record throw of 42’6" in the shot put. Tracy completed the season by setting and re-setting the school record in each of her final 4 meets.
Amber Lewis leaped 17’9.5" in the long jump to capture 2nd place.
The 4×100 relay team finished in 16th with a time of 50.24 and the 4×400 relay team set a PR for the season finishing in 12th place with a time of 4:01.81.
On Saturday, Amber Lewis scored in both hurdle events placing 5th in the 100 meter hurdles and 4th in the 300 meter hurdles, thus scoring points for the team in 3 events.
Congratulations to Nylah Brown, Tracy Dorcemont, Taylor-Von Frazer, Erin Gant, Caroline Garvin, Kayla Hensley, Amber Lewis and Grace McCarty for an outstanding finish at the State Meet and to the entire girls team for an excellent season!!

Athletes are allowed to leave after their events have concluded if riding with their parent. Team van will depart after last event and stop and eat on the way back to Roswell.

The season wrapped up for the boys team as they competed in Jefferson, GA on Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Consistent with the rest of the season, the weather proved to be almost as challenging as the competitive field.
The boys fought the competition and the elements and tallied 17 points to finish 16th in the state.
On Thursday, Richard Delphin visited the podium twice placing 4th in both throwing events, with throws of 51’9.5" in the shot put and 147’9" in the discus.
Also on Thursday, Drew Kelley placed 8th in a very competitive final for the 1600.
On Friday, preliminaries for most running events were completed along with the final of the 3200 with Drew Kelley finishing in 11th. Toby Scott ran to a 12th place finish in the 100 meter preliminaries and Andrew Kwateng finished in 16th in the 200 meter preliminaries.
On Saturday most of the running finals were contested – the 4×100 meter relay team finished in 6th place with a time of 43.21 seconds and the 4×400 meter relay team also placed in 6th with a time of 3:30.06.
Congratulations to the boys who competed for Roswell in the State Meet and to the entire boys team for an outstanding season!!

The Sectional Meet qualifiers (18 boys and 10 girls) competed on Friday and Saturday at Roswell High School against qualifiers from Regions 3,4,5 and 6 in order to be able to compete in the State Meet.
The forecast for rain on Saturday resulted in the meet being rescheduled across two days with most field events contested on Friday evening while the running events were completed on Saturday.
The rain never materialized and the spectacular weather during the two days resulted in 1 school record being established while 10 boys and 9 girls qualified to represent Roswell High School in the State Meets being held over the next two weeks.
Highlight of the Meet:
- Amber Lewis lowered her school record in the 100 Hurdles established last season with a time of 14.09 seconds while finishing second in the event.
