Sectionals Meet Schedule

The following is the “Tentative Schedule” for 2013 Sectionals Track and Field meet at Roswell High School on Saturday April 27.

GHSA reserves the right to modify the schedule due to weather. It is possible that the events could start as much as 1 1/2 hours earlier to adjust for weather. That decision will be made on Friday.

Sectional Meet Qualifiers

Region 5-AAAAAA Meet Results

Boys team is Region Champions, Girls team finishes in 2nd place.

On Thursday and Friday nights, the boys and girls teams competed successfully with numerous individual region champions and a school record being re-established.

The weather was very inconsistent, with the first night of competition starting while temperatures were in the 80’s, but the second day ushered in wet, windy and colder conditions as the night finished with the temperature dipping into the 40’s.

The boys team dominated the field totaling an impressive 160.5 points easily outscoring second place Walton by 56.5 points while Wheeler placed 3rd.

The girls team finished in 2nd place behind a solid all around performance by the Woodstock girls team while Lassiter finished in 3rd.

Highlights of the Meet:

  • Amber Lewis collected two region titles in the 300 Hurdles and Long Jump while contributing to the team score in the 100 Hurdles and the 4×100 and 4×400 relay teams.
  • Erin Gant was the region champion in the 800 meter run and also was a member of the 4×400 meter relay team.
  • Tracy Dorcemont scored as the region champion in the Shot with a school record throw of 41’4" improving her record just established 5 days earlier. Tracy also contributed to the team placing in the Discuss.
  • Drew Kelley outran the field in the boys 3200 to become region titlist and also placed second in the 1600 meter run.
  • Richard Delphin was a double champion, placing first in both the Shot and the Discuss.
  • Toby Scott out ran and leaned ahead of the competition establishing himself as the fastest in the region in the 100 meter dash. Toby also contributed to the region champion 4×100 meter relay team.
  • Tanner Hayes outlasted the field in the 300 meter hurdles to be crowned region champ and contributed to the 4×400 meter relay team.
  • The boys 4×100 relay team of Isaiah Garris, Toby Scott, Andrew Kwateng and Daniel Meier won their event to stand at the top of the podium as region champions.
